A Question for those who play DOTA, LOL, HON and other games like that.
iminterestinghonest:
What did you do to learn how to effectively play the game when you were a noob???
I have recently gotten into the DOTA 2 Beta thanks to some amazing luck in the Steam Christmas Gift thingy. The only problem is, I have pretty much no idea how to play the damn thing :P
I know the point of the game is to kill creep, level up, get gold, bye items, kill opponents, kill towers, kill bass, win.
I’m not asking you for advice on how to play the game, but how to learn to play it.
For example, I first started watching starcraft 2 when I found Total Biscuits Videos of him casting matches, his personality made me enjoy the videos and thus I began to pick up the basic fundamentals, then I started to watch more detailed videos and learn a bit more until I eventually picked up the game and started to expand my knowledge through experience, tutorial videos, copying build orders from SC2 websites and watching pro gameplay.
So my final question is this:
As someone who knows the bare minimum there is to know about the game while still knowing it exists; how do I begin? Should I watch casted pro games (if so, who are the best casters for a beginner)? Pro player’s streams (if so what are the best players for each different type of hero)? Find tutorial videos on youtube? (I did watch one about jungling with axe, but I feel that the combination of different Heros and the different ways to play them would result in me watching looooads of videos and getting all the info mixed up) Get my hands on a strategy guide or something? The only thing I can rule out doing is having friends teach me, as none of them are lucky enough to be in the Beta themselves to know how to play.
Thank you for any help :) I really don’t want to waste the fact that I was lucky enough to get into this beta.
